The Honey Tree is basically a health food/product store with fresh lunch being served in the back. Almost everything they had was Vegan, YAY! I tried a little bit of everything. The greens (4:00 on the plate) were one of my favorites, as was the slaw (9:00), and the vegan "meat" loaf (12:00, seitan based) was phenomenal (and I was a meatloaf hater back in my omnivore days).
Then, being, well, me, I had two desserts. (Stop laughing! I didn't plan it that way! Really!) First I had the guava and soy cheese pastelito (ahhh, I'd been missing my traditional Miami desserts since becoming vegan), but then they brought out this chocolate mousse pie, and I couldn't resist...I just couldn't, it was SOOOO good!!!
And then, we shopped! It was a little pricy, so I just looked for some obscure things that I haven't seen at my Whole Foods. First, I found this Aztec Secret Healing Clay which I'm masque'ing with right now (no photos, but believe me, I'm lookin' good, haha). Then, I found the Sea Tangle Kelp Noodles that I've been wanting to try since Gena blogged about them last week on Choosing Raw. I almost ordered them from the website, but I had to order by the case, and the shipping cost was really high. That's why I did a little dance of joy when I found them today. I bought three packages, but I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to try them because, ummm, I'm a little full right now.
Have a great weekend, bloggie friends!

Good vegan lunch and good vegan shopping? What's better than that?! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteRight, JL? The only thing that made it even better was that it was good vegan lunch and good vegan shopping w/ a good friend. :)

Gotta love combo vegan shopping/eating trips. :) I recently tried kelp noodles, too, and really liked them. I hope you enjoy them, too! I actually have a bag of noodles identical to the one in your photo, just sitting in my fridge, because I sort of forgot about it...thanks for the reminder LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOL, my pleasure, Tiffany. VERY excited to try them, probably tomorrow. Thinking about sauces right now. :)

Ooh, let us know how the kelp noodles work out!
ReplyDeleteI am curious to hear what you think of the kelp noodles. I tried a different brand and wasn't thrilled with them. I hope the brand makes a difference and you like yours.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day. Our local health food store has a prepared foods area too, that is Dan's favorite part of going with me.
Enjoy your weekend, hugs,
Ali
Vegga and Ali--I made the kelp noodles last night w/ Averie's peanut sauce...I'll blog about them when I get home from yoga, but here's a preview...I LOVED THEM!!!!!!
