The Art of Tattooing (and Lunch with Jason)

My very good friend Jason has a gorgeous tattoo of the Hindu God Hanuman on his inner left arm (a work of art by an amazing tattoo artist, and a good friend, Loco, the owner of Dharma Tattoo in Miami Springs). Yesterday, he went back to Dharma so that Loco could start working on Shiva Nataraj on his outer left arm. So far, he's got the outline done, but I can tell already, it's going to be phenomenal. Jason and I have a lot in common, including our love of tattoos, yoga, and great food. So, when he texted me yesterday to say that he was back in the tattoo chair, I couldn't wait to see, so I invited him over for lunch today.
For lunch we had a Gigilicious Salad (escarole, spinach, cilantro, leek, celery, carrot, artichoke hearts, quinoa, chick peas, sunflower seeds, cranberries, and Goddess Dressing), Isa's Sweet Potato Fries, which are always a hit (VWAV, p. 114), Sloppy Joes (which are actually Isa's Veggie Burger recipe (VWAV, p. 101) without the final step of making and browning patties) served on Ezekial Sprouted Wheat Buns with sprouts and my own little concoction of Vegenaise & Dijon Mustard.
For dessert, we had Chocolate Banana Soft Serve (straight outta Buffy the Vitamix) with raspberries. I think I got the idea for this one from Alicia's Vegan Epicurean blog, but I made it my own:

Ingredients
5 bananas--frozen (I quarter them before freezing, which makes them easier to work with)
2 heaping tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp agave nectar (I think it could have used maybe one more tbsp agave, but as it was, Jason and I were both pretty much licking the bowls, so I guess it was fine, LOL)
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c almond milk
Process
Blend on variable, working up to high, until it gets nice and thick and rich and yummy.

And now, it's time for yoga. Enjoy your weekend!

xoxo,
LJ

  1. LJ,

That is a very nice looking tatoo!

Looks like a wonderful lunch. Sweet potato fries have always been a favorite around here.

I love your addition of cocoa to the banana ice cream. A certain hubby I know would love this. I just happen to have some bananas in the freezer. Hmmmm. ;-)

    talk to you later,
    Ali

  4. LOL, Ali--did you end up making more Banana Soft Serve for Dan? And Jason appreciates the compliment on his tattoo--the new one is going to be on the same arm, on the outer part--I'm almost as excited as he is to see it with color.

Anabell, I LOVE that you called it your "Vita-Baby!" That's just as fun and Creative as "Buffy the Vegetable Slayer!"

Me too, Melisser, me too! LMAO!
